The pivotal role of Teflon tape in the success of most plumbing projects cannot be ignored. Most plumbing tasks such as fixing a sink, repairing/replacing a tap, fixing a shower etc. require the services of a Teflon tape in some way or the other.

A Teflon tape is a white strip of delicate material that provides a tight setting to the pipe fixture. It eliminates potential leakages from the affected plumbing components by providing a compact juncture.

Hence, a leaky pipe can be fixed for leaks using the Teflon tape. Due to the flimsy property of the tape, it is sometimes difficult to handle but once it is taped to the element, a leak-proof scenario can be ensured.

A pipe leakage can be fixed very conveniently with the correct application of the Teflon tape. Though the task appears a bit complex but that is just a misapprehension. With proper logic and a right set of tools, you can accomplish the task in less than an hour.

If your plumbing setup suffers from such a problem then avail the services of the standard Teflon tape straightaway. Remove the pipe from it’s affiliated setup and determine the state of the threads. Loosened out threads confirm the cause of the problem. Before you commence the task, clean off the threaded area well to remove dust and moss.

Take out some length from the Teflon tape roll and hold it’s leading end against the threads of the pipe. Make sure that you don’t cover up the mouth of the pipe. Maintain the tension of the tape while you unwind the roll. Make sure that each latter wrap covers half the width of the former one. This helps in wrapping up the whole threaded area evenly.

Keep turning the roll in clockwise direction such that the threads are well wrapped. Each preceding wrap covers half the width of the previous wrap. Apply a compact fitting to the setup such that the finish of the threads is felt from the wrapping of the tape.

At the end, tear off the tape from the tails of the wrap by placing your thump on the wrap and simultaneously pulling out the roll from the elongated length.
