When it come to getting more website traffic, article marketing is long been a favorite choice. One of the reasons is of the many benefits that can occur outside just submitting to directories.

The key to making article marketing is to be consistent in your efforts. many people submit one or two articles and give up because they didn’t work. For the best results you need to submit on a weekly basis at the least.

I have read of some folks who like to submit 20 or more in a day. That is not my belief because I want to make sure I am delivering quality versus quantity, especially if you are try to brand your name and website. If they have a free article directory, they usually offer their articles to be republished which means yours could be put on dozen or even hundreds of sites. Each one means another link to your site which raises your ranking and increases traffic.

Another great benefit is that its free advertising and it doesn’t get any better than free. Publishers are always looking for advertising income and also want it to be relevant to their content so as to keep their readers engaged. And even if your article is not picked up by a publisher it is still put on the directories pages. Most of the big ones have a great page rank which means your content will get indexed faster, so it is still on the web collecting free traffic.

Writing good articles could lead to some extra income as a freelancer. If you are putting out good content other sites may look to buy or hire you to write some content for them. That’s easy money from something you are already doing. I know of many big content sites that contract out most of their blog and article writing. There are also sites that act as a middleman between writers and publishers that can help you get started.

A common myth with article marketing is that it is long term but that is not necessarily true. The issue comes down to using articles on as part of a consistent process for traffic. If you were to submit articles daily or even just 1-2 times a week you can really begin to see the benefits.
